Rabbit Hole Day 2026

Published by Peter on

January 27th is Rabbit Hole Day. It’s the birthday of Lewis Carroll, the guy who came up with Wonderland and Jabberwocky.

For many writers, January 27th is a day to embrace absurdity and surrealism. It’s a day to create something whimsical, just for the sake of it.

I was going to write a post today about ROI, or fulfillment, or some such thing that feels useful and productive. But then I remembered today is Rabbit Hole Day, and so I wrote the poem below.

I hope you like it. It just kind of came to me, but it also feels like something that’s needed today.

I hope you’ll take some time today to put down important things and make some space for whimsy. If you do, let me know what you chose to do. Create a picture or poem, dance in your pajamas with your cat, stand on your head for a Zoom call… put something joyfully different in the world today, without self judgment.
