Permission to phone it in today

Published by Peter on

How do you give yourself permission to phone it in some days? This is one of those “I need to take my own advice things.” I’m struggling this morning to write my weekly blog post.

It’s not for lack of ideas. I have tons of good ideas for new content.

It’s not writer’s block. I’ve already written three half-posts and set them aside for another week… and it’s not even 9 a.m.

It’s not exhaustion. I actually really love writing something new to begin my week. It helps me keep my brain in the right place for my clients and my own creative projects.

I guess it’s just an off day. Those happen sometimes. And that’s okay. I have to believe that’s okay. Even though I feel kind of tense about it right now.

All my inner judges are hard at work: The achiever in me demands I write something profound and meaningful every week. The maximizer in me demands that every post attract new clients. My inner cynic is busy reassuring my inner critic that it doesn’t really matter if this post sucks because no one will read it anyway.

I just need to get over myself already. Today is not going to be my best day ever. And if we needed further proof, here’s my biorhythm, which I haven’t consulted since about 1978.

Well, there you go. At the bottom of the Intellectual cycle. That explains it. 🙄
